Research

  • SHNSmartHealthNet is a research project for the structuring of processes in the care of patients following stroke. The data and knowledge generated in this context are incorporated into a care algorithm. The project entails conception, development and piloting of a data-based service system comprising the following elements: service (case management, provision of assistive technology devices and therapeutics), digital services (web-based management platform) and rehabilitation technology. The SmartHealthNet research project is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) (www.smarthealthnet.de). (www.smarthealthnet.de).
  • SHNThe research project ROBINA denominates the development of a novel adaptive human-technology-interaction concept and robotics for the support of people in need of care who are afflicted with high-grade motor deficits. The objective pursued with this project is to transfer care tasks to a technical assistance system. For now, ROBINA is being developed for people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a paradigm for both care and psychosocial challenges in intensive and palliative care settings. ROBINA is a research project supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) (www.projekt-robina.de).
  • jpndThe Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) pools measures initiated and supported by EU member states. The objective pursued with JPND is the bundling and promotion of research into age-related neurodegenerative diseases across Europe. The JPND project “CarE-ALS“ investigates transferability of the APST concept to the care of patients with ALS in the Netherlands, Belgium and the Republic of Ireland.
  • mnd-netThe network for motor neuron diseases is an association of 17 university hospital-based centers for the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) across Germany. MND-Net is a research association conducting basic research as well as research into therapies and patient care in ALS. APST supports the association’s clinical researchers with its Internet technologies
  • patientslikemePatientsLikeMe.com is currently one of the leading Health 2.0 Portals. The portal enables patients afflicted with various diseases to establish fact-based connections with other patients. The patient data collected via PatientsLikeMe contain details on medicinal agents, therapies and disease courses, all of which is relevant information to the pharmaceutical industry, manufacturers of medicinal products, and decision-makers in the health care industry. APST and PatientsLikeMe cooperate to elucidate possible options of involving patients in medical decision-making and care processes. This type of patient participation is referred to as “Patient Reported Outcome (PRO)” and represents an important research topic in the APST scheme.
  • soamedSOAMED (“Service-oriented Architecture for the Integration of Software-based Processes, Exemplified by Health Care Systems and Medical Technology”) is a Research Training Group of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft , DFG). The group conducts research into fundamental concepts, algorithms, and methods for the service-oriented development of complex software systems with a focus on medical application. APST is the concise application context that the SOAMED group targets with their investigations. APST’s process-oriented software system is of particular interest to the SOAMED research team.
