Where is the ALS phenotype displayed in the ALS app?
The ALS app enables clear documentation of the motor ALS phenotypes. The phenotypes are classified according to the location of symptom onset (“O”), propagation (“P”) and motor neuron symptoms (“M”), which is referred to as the OPM classification.
The classification is displayed on the “Progression” page of the app and supplemented by annotated explanations to provide those affected with better orientation and an understanding of the course of the disease. The actual presentation of the phenotype depends on whether the ALS app team has the necessary information to display the phenotype in the ALS app. Whether and how the phenotype is actually displayed in the app depends on whether the ALS app team has the relevant information. This information comes from doctor’s letters or study documents in which the OPM classification was recorded.
The prerequisite for this is the consent of the patients, who release their data for this purpose via a declaration of consent. The app’s data service processes this information securely and reliably in order to provide as complete and helpful a picture as possible of the individual course of the disease
