How can I use the ALS app to determine my ALS progression rate?

The ALS app enables independent determination of the ALS progression rate (ALSPR). For this purpose, the ALS Functional Rating Scale (ALSFRS-R-SE) is collected directly in the app. This scale comprises twelve questions on typical symptoms and motor function deficits in ALS. There are five possible answers with fixed point values for each question. The sum of these points forms the ALSFRS-R-SE value, which reflects the current motor function. To calculate the ALSPR, the app also requires the date of symptom onset (month and year), which is entered in a separate field. This data is used to determine the monthly change in the ALSFRS-R-SE and the ALSPR is displayed on the start page of the app. In addition, the progression rate is classified into one of three categories: slower, medium or faster progression.
