The “Empowerment Prize for People with ALS 2014” will be awarded on December 7, 2014. The prize recognizes the achievements of patients participating in a self-assessment study for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
The Empowerment Award highlights the importance of patient evaluations in optimizing existing therapies and further developing future treatment methods.
The aim of the award is to raise public awareness of the value and necessity of a feedback and evaluation culture in medicine.
The “Empowerment Prize” has been awarded in partnership with the German Society for Muscular Dystrophy (DGM) since 2013. The prize is awarded by the Berlin regional group of the DGM and supported by the AmbulanzPartner care network. The prize includes a wellness weekend in the barrier-free hotel “Hohe Düne” in the Baltic seaside resort of Warnemünde for 2 people and a prize sculpture. The sculpture was designed by the Leipzig artist Elisabeth Howey and made for the prize.
