What support can the ALS app provide in controlling body weight?
Body weight should be measured and documented at least once a week. The documentation is relevant in order to be able to estimate the progress of the weight and to recognize an incipient weight loss at an early stage. The ALS app offers simple and effective weight documentation. The previously measured weight can be entered in the “History” section. The body weight is displayed in a diagram. Each measurement leads to a point in the diagram, so that the total number of measurements results in a weight curve that shows the individual weight progression.
The graphical representation in the diagram of the weight progression has the decisive advantage that the trend of weight loss can be recognized more quickly. We therefore recommend that all those affected use the ALS app and document their own weight measurements. By linking the ALS app with the APST platform, the ALS outpatient clinics that participate in APST gain a direct insight into weight progression, which is crucial for nutritional therapy in ALS.
