Can a nutritional drink be prescribed by a doctor?

Nutritional drinks can be prescribed by a doctor (GP or specialist or by doctors in ALS outpatient clinics). In contrast to many medications, doctors are not regulated when prescribing liquid nutrition and tube feeds. In Germany, various networks have been developed that specialize in nutritional care, including qualified nutritional advice for people with ALS.
