How can I tell if Riluzole is working?

The medication has no alleviating effect on existing symptoms, so no relief can be expected from taking
the medication. This means that there is no subjective perception of effectiveness. Riluzole does, however, have a long-term effect: the progression of the disease is only delayed after months or years of use. Due to this abstract therapeutic effect, a high level of discipline and motivation to take the medication is necessary in order to maintain continuity of treatment.
