Presentation of the course of the disease and progression value
On the ‘Progression’ page, you will find a diagram showing the values of the FRS function scale over time. The diagram shows a uniform representation of the course of the disease. This makes the development of the disease visible and understandable for patients.
What is the progression value?
The progression value indicates by how many points the total FRS value changes per month. It allows an approximate prognosis of how the SMA disease will develop. Values below 0 indicate an improvement in the disease. Values above 0 indicate progression of the disease, and 0 indicates a standstill.

Progression value and FRS diagram
On the “Progression” page, the FRS functional scale values are displayed in a progression diagram. The diagram provides a good understanding of the progression of the disease. The current progression value is shown in a diagram as improvement, standstill, or progression.

Calculation of the progression value
The progress value compares the current FRS value with the FRS value of the first assessment and the monthly change. Two fully answered FRS function scales are therefore required to calculate the progression value. Your main diagnosis and the dates of onset and diagnosis are documented on the “Personal data” page. This data is not relevant for calculating the current progression value. However, they are required for recording the entire course of the disease.
