On December 8, 2013, the “Empowerment Prize for People with ALS” was awarded to Regine Borchert. The prize recognizes Regine Borchert’s achievements in participating in a clinical trial on patient assessment of physiotherapy measures for ALS. Regine Borchert herself suffers from a variant of ALS.
The Empowerment Award emphasizes the importance of patient evaluations in optimizing existing therapies and further developing future treatment methods. The evaluation takes place via the Internet portal AmbulanzPartner. The aim of the prize is to raise public awareness of the value and necessity of a feedback and evaluation culture in medicine.
The “Empowerment Award” was presented in partnership with the German Society for Muscular Dystrophy (DGM). The prize is awarded by the Berlin regional group of the DGM and supported by the AmbulanzPartner care network.
The prize includes a wellness weekend in the barrier-free hotel “Hohe Düne” in the Baltic seaside resort of Warnemünde for 2 people and a prize sculpture. The sculpture was designed by the Leipzig artist Elisabeth Howey and made for the prize.
