Riluzole should be taken 12 hours apart, usually in the morning and in the evening. The exact time of administration is not critical. Strict adherence to the 12-hour interval is also not required. An interval of 10–14 hours would also be acceptable. Overall, the medication should be taken regularly and adapted to daily routines. In this sense, a deviation of a few hours from the 12-hour interval would not be a problem. It is also not necessary to time the dose in relation to meals (before, during, or after a meal). If it is not possible to take one or more doses, the missed doses should not be “made up.” The medication can be resumed without any special considerations (even after a prolonged break in taking it). Overall, riluzole is a medication that is straightforward to take.
