What role does the ALS pharmacy play in DMC treatment?
“Regular” pharmacies are only prepared for the short-term production of dextromethorphan/quinidine (DMC) in exceptional cases, as ALS is a rare disease and DMC is only used in some of those affected. The drug is therefore rarely requested in conventional pharmacies and availability is correspondingly limited. For this reason, it is particularly important to use a specialized ALS pharmacy.
These pharmacies are prepared to produce DMCs as prescription medicines on the basis of a doctor’s prescription. The search for and selection of a suitable ALS pharmacy is supported by the ALS pharmacy program.
