Are there fluctuations in NfL measurements in people with ALS?

Studies show that the levels of neurofilament light chain are significantly increased in ALS patients
compared to healthy people and patients with other neurological diseases
. However, the values can fluctuate during the course of the disease. The extent
and also the causes of these fluctuations have not yet been conclusively clarified and
are the subject of the ongoing NfL-ALS study.
