What frequency and duration of occupational therapy is recommended for ALS?
Due to the different objectives, occupational therapy is used for the majority of ALS patients throughout the course of the disease. A typical therapy session lasts 45 minutes and is carried out on two dates per week. Depending on the individual course of symptoms and the therapeutic objectives, it is possible to use less (one appointment per week) or more intensive occupational therapy (up to five sessions per week). Occupational therapy is decided and prescribed by a doctor. The specific form of treatment (number, duration and frequency of applications) is decided in consultation between doctors and therapists. The therapy is always tailored to the needs and resilience of the patient.
