What is occupational therapy?

The word “Ergo” can be translated as “work”. In the context of medical treatment, “work” refers to the performance of a specific activity. In this definition, occupational therapy is the performance of specific tasks with a therapeutic objective. In the case of motor dysfunctions, paresis or spasticity of the hands and arms in particular can lead to restrictions in everyday and occupational activities. For example, handling cutlery, crockery, clothing, everyday objects and tools as well as operating equipment can be restricted. Occupational therapy is a component of the neurological treatment of motor dysfunctions, in which motor activities are supported despite the existing deficits.
